Building Self Esteem

In building self esteem lets look at the value of self honesty and why you need to develop this ability. You have the map to go anywhere you choose to go, but the map is useless without knowing your starting point. You must know your starting point.

Self honesty will give you this. You need also to uncover and deal with all that has prevented you from building self esteem and becoming happy. No amount of psychology will work if you cannot be honest and unveil your true identity and thoughts.

You must remove the barriers and obstacles that currently exist before you can continue forward. These barriers are generally limiting or incorrect beliefs that often revolve around self opinions on matters such as self worth and self esteem to mention but two.

In order to successfully build self esteem though you must have a willingness to be very open and honest with yourself. Self honesty is the tool with which you will do this work. Your demons must be faced and conquered. The first step in this process is to acknowledge that these demons exist.

Denial and delusion are areas you want no dealings with. This is harmful to you and your plans and has no place in the fulfilled persons life.

Any work you do on developing your belief system is in vein if you do not implement this self honesty and monitor your thoughts and actions against it in a very candid way. Self honesty then, in a sense becomes big brother, watching your every action and thought.

It’s OK to mess up, it’s going to happen. One of life’s irony’s is that we are unable to meet even our own standards, all the time. It’s not OK to lie to yourself about it. You must have no interest in explaining your behavior in order to provide yourself with comfort. This helps nobody, least of all you. No, you must take responsibility for yourself and accurately label your behavior. It’s black and white. If you fall short in a given task, that’s fine. It only becomes failure when you fail to learn from the shortcomings.

Life to a great extent is a trial and error process anyway; you make a mistake, learn a lesson and a negative is turned into a positive...success! If however you fail in a given task and then allow yourself to justify why you failed, well, this is true failure and is worth nothing. A negative has been compounded by adding another negative to it and no lesson has been learned; this is true failure.

Therefore it is logical to see that self honesty can in fact turn any situation or circumstance to your benefit, regardless of your physical result. All chance and luck is removed from the equation of success. It is these feeling of success that will grow and aid the process of building self esteem. The more successful you feel the higher your self esteem will soar. Building Self Esteem Tips
