The Secret To Building High Self Esteem Is Contribution
Building high self esteem and confidence in large parts are obviously determined by how we see ourselves. The Fastest and easiest way to improve this is to contribute more.
This serves several purposes. Firstly we are meeting a basic human need within ourselves. We all must contribute to life, this is not optional. We are growing or we are dying, there is no in between. It is our nature to seek and increase life, therefore contribution is essential.
Secondly, we develop self respect through contribution. When we give we feel a certain amount of accomplishment in that. It feels good to give and to help others. When we do this we have earned the right to feel good about ourselves and our self respect grows. We start to feel worth while.
Thirdly we meet another basic need, the need for growth. When we help others to grow, that growth then becomes ours, their success then becomes our success. Remember, we cannot help another without helping ourselves in the process, it’s a win win game.
Fourthly, it takes our mind off of ourselves. We only suffer from low self esteem and confidence when we are focusing on ourselves. Get busy, take you mind off of it. Thinking about yourself less is very helpful in building high self esteem.
Fifthly, when we help others we see that we are not alone. We all have problems, we all struggle with life in one way or another. By helping others and contributing we connect with others. We often even see how small our problems might actually really be when we gain a certain amount of perspective on life. In doing this it becomes possible to view life with much more optimism.
In conclusion contribution is one of the best things you can do for yourself and others. In you want more from life, contribute more to life. Building high self esteem and contributing to others goes hand in hand.
