Self Confidence Building Techniques

One of the best self confidence building techniques that I have found is to ask questions. The more questions you can ask of yourself and the higher the quality of these questions, the better. Also the greater depth you can go into the better results you will get. If you have not read the article on building a value system, do so, it is the introduction to this technique, when you have done so then read on.

Do not limit yourself.

Remember, your results are always going to be comparative to your efforts. You can have as much or little of life as you choose, if you want more, simple give a little more to the process. So here are a few questions to ask yourself.

  • who am I?
  • What are my ethics? In business, in relationships, on my role in society?
  • What are my standards on all areas of life that are important to me?
  • What do I stand for?
  • What will I not stand for?
  • What are my spiritual beliefs and convictions?
  • What do I love?
  • What am I passionate about?
  • How do I treat others?

Ask these questions and as many more as you can think of to yourself. Do it in writing. Sit down with a pen and paper and just do it. Take days, weeks, even months if you need to.

Once you begin to write, answers will flow. The longer you write for the deeper and the higher the quality of the answer you will receive. Once you have exhausted your questioning, edit your work, review it picking out the most important and striking parts. When you have gathered this information make a written statement declaring who you are.

If you have taken the time to do this correctly, you should have all the information at hand to clearly and concisely write a statement declaring to yourself and the world who you are!

Keep in mind this is ideal, not actual as far as the statement goes. This is the person you have today chosen to be, not the person you have been in the past. Your past is not relevant. The idea here is determining not only who you are, but who you are becoming and who you are going to be.

By doing this thoroughly you take a huge step in gaining control of your thoughts and setting course in a direction you choose to go.

Once established this belief system and statement of identity becomes the back bone of your decision making process and self development. These are your roots, and your compass. It has been accurately calibrated, consciously by you and can be declared reliable. Congratulations. Measurable progress has been made. Self esteem and confidence now have a solid foundation.

Confidence is built on knowing who you are and what you stand for, this self confidence building technique will help you to understand this.
