I agree with Cody, I was an alcoholic for 15 years. Alcoholics Anonymous is the way that I found. I'm dry for 5 years now and I have my life back.
You need the 12 step program, like Cody said read the big book, it's easy to find, just google it.

Alcoholics Anonymous by: Cody
Hi James, sorry to hear of your alcohol problem, but the fact that you are even asking this question is a good sign that you are heading in the right direction.
The solution to alcoholism is far beyond one answer or even a website, that is why I haven't really tackled addiction on this site. My best advice to you though is to find your local alcoholics anonymous and attend a few meetings.
It's full of people who have overcome alcohol addiction and they are the best qualified people to help you. You need people who have been through what you are going through and understand your problems. Also the "Big Book" which is published by AA would be a great place to start reading, it contains the 12 steps of the 12 step program and will help you understand what you need to do.
